Former employees of several capital companies denied to our newspaper the claim of Imre Mártha, CEO of BKM Budapesti Közművek Nonprofit Zrt., that no one below the level of department head was fired due to the creation of the new capital utility holding company.

According to former employees who spoke to our newspaper, many people were forced to leave the field due to the merger of the companies. There was someone who was called without a number and threatened by his boss before he was fired. The complaints reached the city administration, but nothing was done.

As is well known, the Capital Assembly decided on the creation of the public utility holding last December: from September 1st, the Capital Public Area Maintenance (FKF), Főkert, the Budapest Funeral Institute, Főkétüsz, which performs chimney sweeps, and Főtáv merged into Budapesti Közművek Zrt. According to our information, since the decision of last December, employees have been continuously leaving the once independent utility companies - not of their own accord, but under duress.

One of them, László Kabai, a certified chimney sweep, worked for thirty years at Főkétüsz Fővárosi Kéményseprőipari Kft. The master worker told Magyar Nemzet: the merger of the companies resulted in a lot of people leaving the job.

- A small number of craftsmen worked at Főkétüsz, now there are even fewer left. When the reorganizations took place, they offered to take over the disaster management or the new holding company. It turned out that it was only on paper, we had to go to job interviews, where several of us were rejected. In addition, financial interests also played a role, for example, in disaster management, several people were offered a salary of eighty thousand forints less than their previous salary. That's why many people continued to look for their prosperity in the private sector, said the craftsman. Kabai also added: the lives of many families collapsed because for decades the job seekers not only had a secure job, but also a profession, and they planned to retire from there.

I am disappointed because even the former mayor István Tarlós promised us the stability of the company and that we would have secure jobs for many years. That is why it came as a cold shower to us that the chimney sweeping company was merged into the holding company - recalled László Kabai, who has since started his own business together with several colleagues.

Attila K., a former employee of the Capital Public Space Maintenance Department, had to leave because he expressed his professional concerns to his manager. The man who previously worked for the tank supply group also confirmed to our newspaper: it is not true that ordinary workers were not sent, as far as he knows, many employees from the public area maintenance were also dismissed.

Last spring, the leaders of the FKF listened to my comments and promised an investigation, but in the end nothing came of it. Then in the same year, at the end of September, my economic manager, exercising the right of employer, threatened me covertly that if I did not leave of my own free will, he could not guarantee my physical integrity, because during the inspections, several flights had failed due to irregular emptying of the 1.1 cubic meter green containers - recalled. According to K. Attila, the leaders of the FKF did not deal with the threats against him in any meaningful way, and neither did the Mayor's Office. Then in December 2020, unknown people started calling her private phone number without displaying the number, presumably to intimidate her, so she filed a police report that month.

During the police investigation, the police forced the telephone service provider to provide data and it turned out that DI, my economic manager exercising employer rights, was calling from his own mobile with a prepaid card without a number display, often late at night, and he also terminated my employment for a month. Since the phone calls were only repeated for a few days, the police closed the investigation because the harassment was not continuous, a man who was fired from his job told our newspaper, pointing out that the cases of harassment at the public space maintenance did not reach the threshold of irritation of the city administration, even though he was Gergely Karácsony he also reported them to the mayor.

We contacted the press department of Budapesti Közművek about the matter, and in their response they repeated the statement of CEO Imre Mártha that no one below the level of head of department was fired in connection with the establishment of BKM, and they categorically rejected all claims to the contrary.
