The European Parliament (EP) overstepped its authority and took a position on the decision of the Polish Constitutional Court - Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Piotr Wawrzyk commented on the document voted on the previous day at the EP's plenary session in Strasbourg.

The diplomat reacted on Polish public radio to the fact that in the non-binding position of the EP, he assessed the decision of the Polish Constitutional Court in early October as an attack on European values and legislation. In it, the body in Warsaw's robes confirmed the primacy of the national constitution over EU law, and that the powers transferred to the European Union (EU) apply only to legislation lower than the Basic Law.

In its resolution on Thursday, the EP stated: the Polish Constitutional Court is illegitimate, not independent, and incompetent to interpret the Polish constitution.

The EU Parliament's position only reflects the views of the representatives, but is not binding on anyone, Wawrzyk underlined, adding that the document "cannot be placed within the competences of the EP and the EU in any way".

In recent years, especially with regard to Poland, the European Parliament "votes resolutions that have nothing to do with reality", and with "unauthorized" adopted documents, it reduces the authority of itself and the entire EU, the deputy minister stated.

He stated: in the case of the EU institutions, there is an effort aimed at expanding their competences fixed in the basic treaties. Wawrzyk recalled that Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also spoke about the appropriation of powers by the EU bodies in his speech in the EP on Tuesday.

Justice Minister Judit Varga the decision of the European Parliament

However, my brain has a limit!

According to the newly adopted resolution by the European Parliament, "the Polish Constitutional Court has no legal legitimacy, is not independent, and is not authorized to interpret the Polish constitution." All this because the Polish Constitutional Court rightly stated that EU law does have limitations and that Brussels cannot lay its hands on all the powers of the member states!

It is a historic low point that an EU institution, which does not even give the appearance of objectivity and operates as an openly political blackmail body, questions the quasi-existence of the supreme judicial body of a sovereign member state.

With this resolution, the European Parliament has once and for all proven that it does not serve people, but only ideologies!

We stand by our Polish brothers and will continue to fight shoulder to shoulder against the sneaky stealth and political pressure of the European Parliament!
