For the 65th anniversary of the 1956 revolution and freedom struggle, the Institute and Archive for Researching the History of Regime Change presents a special educational content. The Retörki's chronology and knowledge base - which until now presented the most important events in the history of the regime change - is now in the form of scientific and informative information about the changing perception and evaluation of the events of 1956 over time.

With the help of articles, short studies and biographies, the expanded knowledge base shows how the perception of the revolution has changed in the last six decades in a way that is understandable to the general public. In this way, it presents the narratives about one of the outstanding events of Hungarian history in the 20th century, from the "counter-revolutionary mob" to the incorporation of the 1956 revolution into the Basic Law.

The collection that is now being completed can be easily used not only by historians, but also by secondary and higher education students and those interested in the topic. The digital chronology - enriched by photos, audio and other period documents - is also a tribute to the heroes of '56.

The richly illustrated online knowledge base will also be available in printed form under the title Changing times, changing memory – the transformation of the assessment of 1956. The volume will be presented on November 3, 2021 in the Parliament House as part of a conference. The online content is available from October 23 on the website below .
