The Prime Minister emphasized that there are moments in the lives of nations when suddenly everyone feels that enough is enough, that things cannot continue as they have been. Viktor Orbán put it this way: "we Hungarians made the right decision, we protested, stood up, rebelled and fought."
Fifteen years ago, in this place, the tear gas grenade stood on one side, and the deceived and humiliated nation stood on the other side - said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at the ceremony organized on the occasion of the 1956 revolution and freedom struggle commemoration day in Budapest on Saturday. At the ceremony held at the intersection of Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út and Andrássy út, the Prime Minister emphasized in his speech: "this is not an ordinary location; fifteen years ago, in these minutes, here at the corner of Andrássy and Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út, the past and the present were eyeing each other".
On one side, tear gas grenades, rubber bullets, vipers, uniforms without identification and water cannons. On the other side was the deceived and humiliated nation, which after fifty years had to hear again that it was lied to morning, night and night, he said. Viktor Orbán emphasized: "on one side were the power cheated by hundreds of tricks, protected tooth and nail, on the other side were desperate people lined up behind the giant letters of Freedom". In 2006, the new generation of communists again took issue with Hungary.
They came to power at the cost of lies, they were dizzy with tax cuts, then they raised taxes, introduced daily hospital fees, visiting fees, and skyrocketed utility prices. They took away the 13th monthly pension and abolished family allowances. In collusion with the international banking world, hundreds of thousands of families were tricked into the trap of foreign currency loans, he listed.
The country was sold out, everything was sold to foreigners, the airport, the national energy company, public utilities. Then, after they looted and bankrupted the whole country, "the leash of the IMF was attached to our neck", said Viktor Orbán. "And when we raised our voice, they responded with tear gas, rubber bullets and horse charges. They shot out eyes, hit defenseless women and old people with rubber sticks." In this place where we are now, 15 years ago violence, blood and tears covered the streets of Pest. All this happened on the 50th anniversary of the '56 revolution, in full view of the world. I say it slowly so that everyone understands: we will never forget them! said Viktor Orbán.
It took years to make amends for the destruction of the left, but we got Hungary back on its feet , Viktor Orbán said. The head of government explained: "it is a great mercy that in the meantime national unity was preserved throughout, and with the cooperation of workers, engineers, farmers, small and large entrepreneurs, scientists, teachers, nurses and doctors, the ruins were cleaned up". He said: we have created one million new jobs, kicked off foreign currency loans, cut taxes, and reached the point where next year the minimum wage will be higher than the average wage during the time of the socialists.
He continued by saying that we recovered the utility companies and increased the national wealth by one and a half times. We taxed the multis, protected families, and cut utility costs to the lowest in Europe, he listed.
Viktor Orbán emphasized: Hungary is now strong enough to value the elderly and the young at the same time. The 13th monthly pension will be restored, next year young people who live from work will not have to pay taxes, and families raising children will get back the taxes they paid this year, said the Prime Minister.
He declared: we are still standing our ground and all we can say is that the Hungarians are not right, but they will be right. And - he continued - since there are three Hungarian truths, we will be right for the third time after the utility and migrant cases. There will be a referendum and we will also protect our children. " Hungary will be the first country in Europe where we stop violent LGBTQ propaganda at school, " said Viktor Orbán.
Let's not forget that when we achieved these results, the whole of Europe attacked us, just like when we stopped the migrants, but we are still here, said Viktor Orbán. As so many times in history, they want to decide about us now. They want to slap us into being liberal and sensitive. We have a feeling of déjà vu, the air of the Brezhnev doctrine is pervading Europe. Brussels should realize that even the communists did not get along with us, we are the sand in the machine. We are the David who better avoid Goliath.
Viktor Orbán reminded that no matter what happened, the left always organized against the country in the background, and is still doing so. The prime minister also talked about how the wolf will eat the grandmother, and he already did, and that's why everyone in the group disappeared, but there is still room for more and more minute men. There is only one left wing, those who shot among the people 15 years ago, are now preparing to take the stage again, and uncle Gyuri is preparing across the big water. When they were supposed to come, they didn't come until we called them now, but they are here, said the prime minister.
Now they don't have firearms, they have Facebook . Our invitation was for liberation from the Soviet occupation and not for interference in our democracy, said the prime minister.
Even today, what they want in Brussels and Washington does not matter, because the fate of the Hungarians will be decided by the Hungarians, said the prime minister.
What the left is doing has more to do with the entertainment industry, and the poster promising to defeat us didn't even last Christmas.
