Péter Márki-Zay, the candidate for prime minister of the left, went big on Monday - it can be read on the 888.hu portal. As they write, the mayor of Hódmezővásárhely wanted to say something big again, but it ended in a nasty fall.
The good man stood up to the public and announced that during a meeting with the Gyurcsány party a week ago, he received documents from the DK that were allegedly delivered to them by Fidesz to help discredit him and Klára Dobrev's campaign.
Totally realistic, right?
Then Márki-Zay published the document. And what was in it?
The Wikipedia article about him, some previous articles published in the press and information that can be gathered from public company databases.
( HERE and have a good laugh.)
According to him, this case is "another example of the kind of party-state profiling and surveillance that Fidesz carries out against the opposition, reminiscent of the darkest period of communism."
It must have been hard work to cut these public materials together, really.
It also says a lot that the left-leaning media also smiled a good deal on the left-wing prime ministerial candidate. For example, HVG reports on the incident as follows:
After Márki-Zay's press conference, hvg.hu was able to look into the 80-page dossier, and based on this, it can be said that this is really not intelligence-level material, since despite the sound wording, such as the "report" written in capital letters at the top of the first page, or something like that, phrases also used in secret service jargon, such as "mapping" and "environmental study", the dossier's material is mostly information that can be gathered from the Internet, newspaper articles published about Márki-Zay, and public company databases with a few hours of work."
Sándor Csintalan remembered the big reveal like this:
Dear Peter! It's nothing, it's not a matter. You make fools of yourself and your allies. Please don't harass your followers and the lovely audience with meaningless nonsense. There are too many inciting politicians here. Fire the fool who made me do this immediately. Ineligible. What will happen here if there really is a situation?”
The campaign was clearly not well received by the public either, on Márki-Zay's Facebook page practically everyone is laughing at the mayor:
"..hmm, this is also approx. today he passed out. Something new?"
"The report is so "pretentious" that part of it is copied from Wikipedia. The following 23 pages are covered. 52-64. we can read about his wife's affairs, which everyone who has followed things even a little has known for a long time. So this is very weak. Anyone can pull one of these together.”
"Just as crappy and pathetic as this man himself."
