Miklós Duray is perhaps one of the most controversial personalities of Hungarian public life in Hungary. Many people turned away from him many times, especially the un. after the regime change, but even more people respect and appreciate the straight-backed Hungarian, twice deprived of his freedom by the living socialism/communism - a "prisoner" in his words - for his uncompromising habitus. A professional who makes a lasting impression even as a geologist is fulfilled by active participation in public life and then in politics. Since 1990, he has been advocating the cooperation of the Hungarian parties in the Uplands, not least the creation of a single Hungarian party in the Uplands, his aspirations have only now come true. Although he has not been actively involved in politics for years, he is not a part of daily politics, his opinion cannot be bypassed, it is authoritative for all political formations.
Due to his origin, Miklós Duray geologist, politician, public writer, and university professor began his life as a loader. He took part in the Velvet Revolution, in 1990 he founded the political movement Együttélés. He was also an active participant in the founding of the Hungarian Community Party, however, after the party's fall in parliament in 2010, he abandoned daily politics. Since 2010, he has been teaching national strategy at the University of West Hungary, and since 2011 he has been teaching "national knowledge". In 2021, Miklós Duray received one of the most important awards for Hungarians in the highlands, the Pro Probitate - Probate award. In one of the interviews conducted on this occasion, he summarizes as follows:
"I think the future of our community will be influenced by three factors. A lot depends on what happens to our young people, whether they go abroad or stay. From this point of view, unfortunately, Hungary can also be considered a foreign country. We receive enormous financial help from Hungary, but this alone is not enough. We also need a perspective, but we are not doing well with this, the situation is getting worse as we go east. The other is that Budapest must maneuver in the Visegrad cooperation, which I think is extremely important, without sacrificing the interests of Hungarians here, this is an extremely difficult task. In the end, a lot will also depend on whether we can normalize and unify our political public life in the near future. Social public life does not have to be uniform, it is enough if it is cooperative, but political life is. Without it, it is feared, there is no Hungarian survival in the Highlands".
Apparently, there will be something to talk about on November 17, 2021 from 5 p.m. in the House of Science and Technology.
