Balázs Fürjes, State Secretary responsible for the development of Budapest at the Prime Minister's Office, and Kiss Ambrus, Deputy Mayor General, reviewed the government's Healthy Budapest Program.
In other words, the provision of HUF 10 billion government support in 2021 for the renovation and modernization of district clinics and screening programs in the capital, as well as the necessary measures to implement the program. - says the announcement of the Office of the Mayor of Budapest. It was jointly determined: this year, the government will also provide the 10 billion forints previously fixed within the framework of the Healthy Budapest Program to the capital's districts, the resources will be received by the capital and the affected districts based on the decision of the Council of Metropolitan Public Development
.
The necessary decisions have been made, the implementation is in progress, and the funds can arrive in the districts within weeks. As they write, the Government of Hungary and the Capital City are both committed to protecting the health of the citizens of the capital, improving the quality of treatment, and developing health care in the districts.
In accordance with this common intention, an agreement was reached between the government and the new city administration that took office in 2019: within the framework of the Healthy Budapest Program, the government will support health developments in the Budapest districts with HUF 10 billion per year between 2020 and 2024 - a total of HUF 50 billion.
The district municipalities can use the funds, among other things, for the renovation and construction of clinics and outpatient care facilities and for the purchase of therapeutic and diagnostic equipment.
As a result of the program, the care in Budapest will be more modern and better. Every year, the Mayor makes a proposal for the distribution of resources by district, and the Council of Metropolitan Public Development decides.
The government disburses the funds to the affected districts accordingly. In 2020, HUF 10.44 billion was transferred, that amount was used by the districts and the capital. In 2021, at the suggestion of the Metropolitan Municipality, the Metropolitan Public Development Council supported the government's provision of more than HUF 10 billion for this purpose again this year. The government decision providing subsidies was made.

Balázs Fürjes , the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for the development of Budapest and the capital agglomeration, said in relation to the program: " Budapest cannot be a battlefield,
health developments in Budapest must progress. Political debates here or there, this is a good program, it is necessary to modernize the district clinics, the government is happy to work together with the district municipalities. We keep our word, this money belongs to the capital. We reviewed this year's implementation of the agreement with Deputy Mayor Ambrus Kiss.
All necessary decisions for the disbursement of subsidies have been made, only paperwork is being done, we are also waiting for data from the districts. Of course, we will implement what we agreed on." Deputy Mayor Ambrus Kiss For this, the primary element is that the concluded agreements are fulfilled. As a result of the intensive negotiations of the past few days, it seems that the financial and administrative obstacle has been removed, which, based on the government decision made already in July, ensures this year's HUF 10 billion for the development of healthcare in Budapest. On the basis of information received from district mayors, discussions with EMMI and the conclusion of support contracts are underway. We also agreed with State Secretary Fürjes that we will monitor the contract signing process in the future." The health of the citizens of the capital is a matter beyond any political debate. The Government and the Capital cooperate so that the necessary resources are available to the districts as soon as possible.
