Vaccination promotion week started on Monday morning, and those who want to be vaccinated are welcome every day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. in the country's 101 hospitals and clinics.
At the press conference held at the Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital, István György previously drew attention to the fact that those coming for vaccinations during the promotion week ending on Sunday do not need to book an appointment in advance, sign in, or register, so that even those who do not have or have difficulty accessing the internet can easily get the vaccine, as well as " can't connect to the healthcare system " on specified interfaces. He added that you can also find information about the hospitals and clinics that carry out the vaccination on the koronavirus.gov.hu website .
The action week ordered by the government is organized by the national vaccination working group and the county vaccination working groups, as well as the national general hospital directorate based on the guidelines of the operational staff. He pointed out that at the vaccination sites all five vaccines in circulation in Hungary,
that is, the Pfizer vaccine, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen and Sinopharm are also available, Szputnyik V is already sold out.
István György pointed out: hospitals were asked to continuously open the vaccination sites depending on the number of arrivals, preferably not to have long waits, to avoid this, the army also provides assistance.
In Hungary, the pandemic is in an aggressive, rising period, vaccination is the only effective means of protection against it, therefore we encourage everyone who has not yet done so to get vaccinated, and for those who have already passed 4-6 months since the second vaccination, ask for the third said the state secretary. He indicated that the appointment booking and vaccination sites will also be open after the action week, and decisions on similar measures will be made based on the experience of the action week.
István György answered MTI's question about the expected interest in the vaccination promotion week: he does not dare to make predictions, it is important that as many people as possible come.
The vaccination process has slowed down in Hungary, we have reached six million vaccinated people, I would like those who have not yet taken advantage of the opportunity to become more aware of the importance of vaccination during the peak of the epidemic, he said.
István György called it important to wear a mask in closed spaces, and asked that people pay attention to the government's decisions related to this, because the protection against the epidemic and the defeat of the fourth wave can only be achieved together.

"There is not only the danger that someone will die from the virus - although that is also a very serious risk - but it comes with a deterioration in the quality of life that I think many people would like to avoid," said Norbert Miklós Wikonkál.
Viktor Orbán: There won't be a fifth wave unless everyone gets vaccinated
The government is confident that the tightened measures will be sufficient, but the weight of the epidemic is yet to come - Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in an interview with Kossuth Radio . We clearly see that those who are not vaccinated are in danger and pose a danger to others, added the prime minister.
Experts agree that 4-6 months after the second vaccine, the protective power of the vaccines weakens, so it becomes necessary to receive the third vaccine. The prime minister said that virologists swear by the fact that the third vaccine provides much higher protection than the second one.
The problem is that not everyone is vaccinated yet and there won't be a fifth wave until everyone takes the vaccine. In the end, everyone will have to get vaccinated, so the Prime Minister asked everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and get vaccinated during the action week.
Cecília Müller: Everyone should get the third vaccination!
Cecília Müller called attention to the fact that a vaccination week is being organized in Hungary between November 22 and 28 .
The already well-known hospital and newly opened vaccination points welcome those who want to get their first, second or third vaccination between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., even without prior registration or appointment.
The national chief medical officer emphasized that he is very optimistic and wants to remain so, since " people can already see with their own eyes and experience " that vaccination is the most basic protective tool in combating the coronavirus epidemic.
" I am confident that common sense will prevail over concerns, misconceptions and disinformation, " he emphasized.
Cecília Müller emphasized that the protection provided by the vaccines lasts for 4-6 months compared to the previous estimate of one year: compared to the original Wuhan strain, the genetic stock of the virus has already changed a lot, and many mutations have occurred in it.
" In the fourth wave, we are fighting the delta type, " he noted.
Since the vaccines were developed for the original Wuhan version, it is therefore necessary to take a booster shot due to the variants
- he explained, at the same time encouraging everyone to receive the third vaccination who received the second dose of the vaccine at least four months ago.
Referring to the variants, he emphasized: this is precisely the reason why it is not possible to say how long the protection ability of vaccines lasts. He added: in line with international experience, they also see in Hungary that the body's immune response decreases 4-6 months after the second vaccination for all vaccines. This is true for both cellular immunity and antibody levels.
Due to the change of the virus, the body needs an additional antigen effect in order to raise the level of protection to the 80-90 percent level provided by the first two vaccinations, the national chief medical officer pointed out.
He emphasized that
with the change of the coronavirus, the " behavior " of the pathogen also changed,
this is also why the delta type can " infect extremely quickly, extremely many people in an extremely dangerous form ".
Cecília Müller warned: there is no guarantee that a healthy young person will not develop a serious illness if infected. This is why personal protection is important.
The chief medical officer also indicated that the list of vaccination points included in the vaccination week can be found on the website koronavirus.gov.hu . It is also possible to book an appointment during the vaccination week, those arriving without an appointment will be vaccinated in order of arrival.
