On November 22, Catholic Charity launched this year's Advent aid program. In the period leading up to Christmas, there are several ways to get involved in "Open your hearts!" to a national action announced with the motto, the aim of which is to make everyday life easier and Christmas a little nicer for as many needy families, elderly people and single people as possible.

Catholic Charities announces its Advent fundraiser every year. The number of donors and beneficiaries increases every year, so the Advent aid program has now become a big collaboration.

At this year's opening press conference of the action, Richárd Zagyva, the national deputy director of the charity service, said: the image on the poster of the program is a symbol of the fact that we have the opportunity to help. By opening our hearts, we can warm the cold homes of others and make their days full of struggles easier.

The Advent gathering also invites us to open our hearts and give a piece of it to those who need it.

You can join the action in the following ways:

With one call to the donation line 1356, you can support the work of the aid organization for needy families with HUF 500.

By donating online through www.karitasz.hu or by bank transfer, you can join the aid programs and the activities of the charity worker throughout the year.

This year, the Angel Bat gift collection campaign will also be launched, in the framework of which children with a difficult fate can make gifts and drop them off at one of the collection points. The volunteers deliver the gifts to the families before Christmas. The method of preparation and the list of collection points can be found on the website www.angyalbatyu.hu. Toys and food can also be donated at diocesan charity centers, KaritászPONT donation shops, announced collection points and local charity groups.

This year, the One Million Stars for the Poor solidarity action will be held, which draws attention to the situation of poor families in Advent. Between December 5 and 12, candles will be lit in front of churches, in Advent fairs, and in main squares in more than 200 settlements - inviting passers-by to light candles and donate. The aid organization will also operate a donation point at the Újbuda Advent fair between December 5 and 12.

On December 8, there will be an all-day charity program titled "Open your hearts" on the Hungarian Catholic Radio, in which the helping work of the charity worker will be presented.

The charity service helps those in crisis throughout the winter: they distribute hot meals to the homeless and needy in many places. If necessary, they support those in a crisis situation with a stove and wood stove so that they have a warm home during the winter.

Richárd Zagyva said that diocesan charity centers and parish charity groups made up of volunteers are also involved in the program across the country, so help can reach more than 800 settlements.

Actor and performer Attila Dolhai also supported the aid program, popularizing the action. Speaking at the press conference about the importance of donating, he pointed out: many things keep us busy during the year, but during Advent, perhaps we pay a little more attention to others when we think about how we can prepare for the coming of the Messiah. This is an opportune time to take care of more than just our immediate family, as there are surely families around everyone who need help.

If we think back to what we were happy about at Christmas as small children, it's good to think that we can now help children who are lacking something. With joint responsibility and cooperation, we can improve the circumstances of many, added the actor. - I encourage everyone to do this, so that we can make Christmas as happy as possible for as many people as possible.
