More than 262,000 children already have a baby bond. This is one of the best Hungarian investments, and if the payment is received on the account by December 31, then the state support will also be available for this year, András Tállai informed MTI.

The parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of Finance said that any amount can be set aside in the baby bond every month, and the interest rate is extremely favorable: the previous year's inflation plus three percent. The state also provides a maximum of HUF 6,000 separate support each year. If the Parliament votes, then from 2022 the state subsidy for baby bonds will double - to HUF 12,000 - highlighted András Tállai.

The baby bond gives parents, grandparents and other relatives a way to contribute to the future financial opportunities of their children, grandchildren and younger family members. Namely, in a long-term, safe form - reminded the state secretary. As a starting point, the state automatically gives all newborns HUF 42,500 so-called start-of-life support - András Tállai detailed.

The money is credited by the Hungarian State Treasury on the day of the child's birth, but the amount received as start-of-life support can only become a baby bond if a relative opens a so-called Start securities account for the child, he added. The Hungarian State Treasury made the account opening extremely easy, it can be done conveniently from home in a few minutes, said the state secretary. He added that nothing else is needed, just a customer portal, which more than 5 million individuals currently have. In other words, the new service is easily available for a significant majority of parents, and thus the proportion of those with a baby policy can increase even further.

Thanks to the payments of family members and the state, HUF 143 billion in baby bonds already earn interest for the children, said András Tállai. He also noted that, for example, a child born this year can receive 2.2 million HUF from a parent's or grandparent's monthly payment of HUF 2.2 million. And this amount could be even higher if the Parliament votes on the Ministry of Finance's proposal to double state aid.
