Dictatorship?
Schiffer reminds us: until now, the opposition's rhetoric was that the Fidesz government "is above everything, there is a dictatorship, the chief prosecutor covers the criminals". According to the former member of parliament, however, the chief prosecutor is "now, before the election campaign, asking for the immunity of a Fidesz member of parliament, secretary of state".
On the other hand, in recent years, the parliamentary opposition politicians have dealt very little with executive abuses, inhumanities, and now with calling the Controlled Activities Supervisory Authority to the fore," he said.
Schiffer added that it is "difficult for the opposition to win from here, since Fidesz can easily say - as it does - that the rule of law is working and that the chief prosecutor is impartially pursuing corruption".
