We will agree with President Macron on the issues of patriotism, the strengthening of Europe and European strategic autonomy - emphasized Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in a joint press statement with French President Emmanuel Macron in Budapest on Monday.

The Hungarian Prime Minister explained that there is no strategic autonomy without a European defense industry, its own nuclear energy capability, and agricultural self-sufficiency.

That is why we support the common European defense policy, we support nuclear energy and we support Europe to have a strong agriculture"

said Viktor Orbán. "There is a good chance that we will have successful negotiations," said the Prime Minister, referring to the afternoon talks.

He touched on the fact that the French president last visited Hungary in 2007. As he said, due to the weather, May would have been ideal for the visit, since then Budapest and Hungary are the most beautiful, but, he added, "December will also be good for politics."

Viktor Orbán stated that Hungary treats President Macron with respect, and since France is the country of encyclopedists, he accepts the definition that the French president recently said about the relationship between the two: "we are political opponents and at the same time European partners".
