Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced on his social media page that six Hungarians and their families were evacuated from Kazakhstan on a Russian plane.

The evacuation plane of the Russian Ministry of Defense took off from Almaty airport with six Hungarians and their family members on board, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced on Monday morning on his social media page. Minister Péter Szijjártó wrote in his post:

In accordance with the meeting held with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Sunday, the Russian Foreign Ministry provided assistance in the evacuation of Hungarian citizens stuck in Almaty. "The evacuation plane of the Russian Ministry of Defense has just taken off from the airport of Almaty - which is still closed to commercial traffic - with six Hungarian people and their family members on board," he added .

Péter Szijjártó also indicated that the seventh Hungarian, who is a dual citizen, ultimately did not take advantage of the opportunity offered. According to the minister, after landing in Russia, an aircraft of the Hungarian Defense Forces will bring the evacuees home.
