In our country, we mainly see flamingos in nature films and zoos, but there are exceptional cases. The current one is like that. Since the 1910s, the 16th such exceptional case happened at Dunatetétlen on January 6, 2022, where birders noticed two pink flamingos on the Bába-szék.

A young and an old specimen were standing in the shallow water - the Kiskunság National Park reported on the strange visitors.

According to the report of the National Park, the rosy flamingo is an extremely rare wanderer in Hungary, the last time a young individual appeared at Lake Fehér in Szeged, and two at Lake Csaj in Szeged in 2018. The species nests in several places in southern Europe, although it has special habitat requirements. It is a permanent breeding species in Africa, but it is also present from the Middle East to India. They get their pink hue associated with them in pop culture from the larvae of the tiny crabs they eat.
