The Day of Hungarian Culture is celebrated with a series of programs in Győr and Sopron. The events include performances, concerts, a dance hall and an exhibition.

In Győr, the series of programs begins on the morning of January 17 with a rounding puppet tournament for children at the Generations Cultural Center, and in the evening, the watercolor exhibition of the painter Bea Hargitai entitled Győr Crosses opens in the Bezerédj Castle in Ménfőcsanak.

The events until January 23 include the poetry concert of the Hangraforgó ensemble, the Moldavian dance hall of the Cserefa band, and the musical performance evening of Izsák Farkas and Péter Kálloy-Molnár.

Visitors can get to know the paintings of Mihály Munkácsy at the event Munkácsy and his time in the Esterházy Palace, where the musical atmosphere of the Parisian salons will come to life on one occasion with the interpretation of the Európa Koncert Salon Orchestra.

Several exhibitions will be opened: among them the exhibition of the works of the members of the Győr Fotoklub Egyesület entitled The World in Pictures at the Gyárváros Branch Library and Community House, as well as the joint exhibition of Károly Szalkai and Guido Szarka Fedor Szarka at the József Attila Cultural Center.

The Hungarian Culture Day city gala program will be held on January 21 in the synagogue, where awards for Győr Art and Győr Public Culture will be presented.

The Petőfi Theater in Sopron, the Castle Theater in Esztergom, the Szigliget Theater in Szolnok and the Forrás Theater will present the podium performance Silentio transeo - The silent literature of the 20th century at the Újvárosi Cultural Center on January 22. On that day, the production is also performed in Sopron at the Liszt Center.

In Sopron, the program series begins on January 19 with the poetry collection of the Association of Hungarian Poets of Vojvodina entitled Percek pillaközén, where the association's young poets will present themselves in the theater. The evening's guest of honor will be József József Ottó Fenyvesi, a poet and writer who won the Attila Prize.

Among the events until January 22 is the production Hallyát-e a dalt, in which Olga Krekity Molnár and Júlia Barta recite poems that scan the fateful moments of human life. The compilation bears the title of a poem by Transylvanian poet László Király.

György Pomezanski's book A háló nem erezzt is presented at the Liszt Center, and there is also an exhibition of the works of the members of the Sopron Photo Club under the title Ten Years of the Sopron Ballet, where photographs taken during the company's previous productions will be exhibited.

And on January 22, the tragedy King István Sík by Sándor Sík will be presented at the Petőfi Theater in Sopron, in which Kossuth Prize-winning actor Imre Boráros plays. The play was directed by András Pataki.

Since 1989, the Day of Hungarian Culture has been celebrated on January 22 in memory of the fact that, according to the manuscript, Ferenc Kölcsey completed the manuscript of the Anthem in Szatmárcsek on this day in 1823.
