Due to its topicality, it is worth recalling a story whose protagonists are two well-known politicians these days: Ferenc Gyurcsány, president of the DK, who is abundantly blessed with prime ministerial ambitions, and Tamás Mellár, an economist who was already a member of MDF, Fidesz, but also a supporter of the opposition rainbow coalition. - brought by vasarnap.hu
Economist Tamás Mellár - who started as an MDF member and is currently an independent representative of the Parliament's Dialogue faction - taught and examined Ferenc Gyurcsány, today's president of the DK, at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Pécs in the 80s. Mellár testified about this more than ten years ago in László Pesty's Gyurcsány portrait film "An Authentic Person", which caused a lot of trouble.
The former teacher put it this way: at the time, it did not occur to him that Ferenc Gyurcsány "had particularly serious abilities, but neither did the opposite". According to Mellár, Gyurcsány, who functioned as an enthusiastic KISZ secretary at that time, slipped into the middle ground, but what he still remembers for is that
"when he came to take the exam, every morning the phone rang in my office, and someone from the party committee said - and then in such a tense relationship - that 'please, comrade, pay attention, because Comrade Gyurcsány is coming to take the exam today'. And then I always dutifully said that of course I would pay attention, because I usually pay attention to every student," Tamás Mellár testified in the film.
A few months ago, he already had a much better opinion of the former KISZ secretary, who, according to him, "would not have needed protection in the exams, as he was a smart, skillful student." Anyway, as he recalled, Mellár gave him four.
Later, in 2018, Ferenc Gyurcsány thanked Mellar, who was aspiring for the support of the DK as a parliamentary candidate in Pécs, on the phone: his person was "worthless", and then they backed away from him.
A memorable scandal related to the former head of government's university and college years in Pécs is that, although he graduated from two faculties, he still does not have a thesis, either in the university archives or elsewhere - he himself was also unable to present it. The scandal was later aggravated by the fact that the title of one of the (disappeared) thesis of the former KISZ secretary was the same as the title of the thesis submitted in 1980 by his former brother-in-law (Viticulture and Winemaking of the Balaton Highlands), so it could easily be the case that even if the thesis existed, the plagiarism volt.
And the most recent case, also from Gyurcsány's current party: Ildikó Bangóné Borbély of DK indicated in her parliamentary biography that she obtained a degree from the Budapest University of Economics, but the institution does not know of a student with that name - which was also reported by 2022 plus .
