Opposition prime minister candidate Péter Márki-Zay posted a campaign photo on his Instagram page, on which he writes: "not as a Catholic, but as a statesman, I support gay marriage."

According to Péter Harrach, Catholic teaching is clear: the Holy Scriptures consider marriage to be a love relationship between a man and a woman and classify it as a sacrament. Two scripture quotes are needed here: "male and female created he", "therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and the two shall become one flesh". Same-sex relationships are incompatible with this. If someone makes an attempt to do so, it loosens the institution of marriage itself, which is unacceptable, Péter Harrach, deputy faction leader of the KDNP, told Vasárnap.

According to Péter Harrach, "those who, as a politician, only consider the acquisition of power to be important, should ignore this. If, on the other hand, he declares himself to be a Christian politician, he cannot destroy the Christian image of man and the institution of marriage that is closely linked to it."

2022Plusz: Whoever makes such a statement is neither a statesman nor a Catholic! But he is a likeable man! Let's pray for his health, but don't drive a country, preferably a car, in this condition!
