The Hungarian authorities catch 300-500 border violators every day, and so far this year, 18,120 have been prevented from crossing, the prime minister's chief adviser on internal security said on the M1 broadcast on Tuesday.

György Bakondi said that the total figure exceeds last year's figures by about 8,000, and that since the beginning of the year, proceedings have been initiated against 140 human traffickers.

The Chief Homeland Security Advisor believes that aggressive, group action has become commonplace, not just occasional occurrences. The migrants damage the border's technical equipment, possibly attack the vehicles of the border guards or the policemen and soldiers on duty, he added.

He also mentioned that the winter cold did not hold back migration either: many people came to Europe both by sea and by land, and an increasing number of Afghan citizens are among them. There are already far more migrants in Turkey than at this time last year. This means that with the onset of spring, the movement of border violators will increase on both sea and land routes, György Bakondi pointed out.

Illegal migrants occupied an empty hotel in Brussels, MTI reported.

As you can read, a group of undocumented migrants occupied a disused hotel in Brussels, the Belgian news portal The Brussels Times reported on Monday.

On Sunday evening, the police found about 50 illegal migrants in the hotel located in the northeastern part of Brussels However, they found that the building had been occupied for more than 24 hours, so police intervention was no longer legally possible. According to the rules, the owner of the building is informed of the "seizure" and can take legal action.

According to the news portal, the group occupying the building was organized by illegal migrants who call themselves "Brussels volunteers without documents". They told the local press that they hope to reach a "temporary occupancy agreement" with the owner so that they will no longer be homeless.

According to the group, the hotel has been empty for more than a year and no application has been submitted for permission to renovate it. The building occupants also said that they contacted the local government.
