Roman Herzog, the former president of Germany - who was also the president of the German Constitutional Court - wrote this in a previous study in which he and a colleague analyzed the jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice:
"His decisions are based on sloppy reasoning that ignores the will of the legislator or turns it into the opposite."
"The cases described show that the European Court of Justice deliberately and systematically ignores the basic principles of Western legal interpretation, its decisions are based on careless reasoning, it ignores the will of the legislator or turns it into the opposite, and it invents legal principles that serve as the basis for later judgments. "
