Hundreds of high school students will commemorate the victims of communism at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Budapest on Friday, and thousands of students from the Carpathian Basin will join in broadcasting the commemoration.

In a statement sent to MTI on Monday, the Rákóczi Association said that in addition to the hundreds of students from Budapest participating in the ceremony organized in cooperation with the Office of the Parliament and the National Remembrance Committee, hundreds of students from secondary schools in the Carpathian Basin will join the online broadcast during classes.

László Kövér, President of the Parliament, will give a commemorative speech at the event, and the event will end with a wreath-laying ceremony.
The Memorial of the National Martyrs was restored in the fall of 2019 in memory of those who became martyrs and victims for professing their Hungarianness.

Since 2020, the Rákóczi Association has been organizing its commemoration with the participation of young people on February 25, the memorial day for the victims of communism, at the Vértánúk square in the 5th district, the announcement reads.
