In the current situation, Hungary's security comes first, it is in the country's determined interest not to drift into war, said Gergely Gulyás, head of the Prime Minister's Office, in today's Government Information in Budapest.

He emphasized: It is Hungary's firm decision not to send soldiers to Ukraine and not to allow arms shipments to cross the Hungarian-Ukrainian border. Based on the military experts and the available information, there is a serious chance that these shipments will be destroyed, so this is the justified and correct behavior in order to protect Transcarpathia and its inhabitants, he added.

He said: the safety of Transcarpathian Hungarians is the most important, many were forced to leave the country, but men between the ages of 18 and 60 are no longer allowed to leave, so many families preferred to stay there, and their safety is of paramount importance.

He emphasized: According to Hungary's position, refugees should be taken care of in the first safe country, this was also its position during the South Slavic war and during the migration crisis. In the current situation, Hungary is the first safe country for those leaving Ukraine, he pointed out. The minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office emphasized that the government must keep in mind that the safety of Transcarpathian Hungarians and Hungary is the most important thing.

The minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office called on all political forces to set aside their selfish political interests, behave responsibly, and take into account the security of Hungary, who called the creation of national unity in the issue of war and security the most important thing.

The minister considers it very sad that, as he said, the left seems to be oblivious to the dangers that this war situation poses to Europe and Hungary due to the election campaign.

He added: the security of the country is even more important than the elections, and irresponsible backbiting in a war situation is particularly harmful. Sending soldiers - as the left wanted - or sending weapons is just fuel to the fire, and in this situation it endangers the security of Hungary and the Transcarpathian Hungarians, he declared.

Gergely Gulyás said, "we ask all political forces to put aside their own political interests in this area, to behave responsibly, it is about the security of the country".

"The left has no regard for the dangers posed by this war situation, the security of the country is more important than the election," said Gulyás, who condemned the fact that the left called Transcarpathian refugees pro-Russian.

The minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office announced that almost HUF 200 million was received for the Bridge for Transcarpathia campaign. He also spoke about how our country, in consultation with the Transcarpathian Hungarian organizations and the governor, is doing everything in order to help those who remained in Ukraine and who are now in the most difficult situation.

The minister said that several civic actions have been launched in recent days to get what everyone needs the most, the cabinet provides 1.3 billion in support to the charitable organizations that help refugees.

Hungary provides assistance to all refugees coming from Ukraine, he added. The ORFK, the disaster management and the immigration police are also prepared for the situation. So far, 120,000 people have crossed the Hungarian-Ukrainian border.

The head of the ministry spoke about the fact that 12 municipalities had deposits of more than 100,000 euros with Sberbank, and the state is trying to compensate them, and they will also receive loans.

Gulyás said: the government is removing the vast majority of restrictions due to the coronavirus epidemic, as the fifth wave of the epidemic is coming to an end. According to this, the obligation to wear a mask will cease from Monday. They will also introduce the rule that ensures that the employer makes vaccination against the coronavirus mandatory, said the minister, who mentioned two areas as exceptions to these rules, social and health.

The minister said that the state of health emergency will be maintained, among other things, due to the threat of a possible sixth wave, as well as to maintain the government's ability to act.

If the amount of electricity produced by Paks had to be purchased from the free market, it would mean an additional burden of HUF 22,000 per month for the average Hungarian family, stated Gergely Gulyás.
