The government is working to protect the economy and the Hungarian people as much as possible from the effects of the war taking place next door, said Finance Minister Mihály Varga at the 22nd Entrepreneurs' Day organized by the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers (VOSZ) on Thursday in Budapest. He indicated: the events are constantly being monitored in order to be able to initiate the calm, considered steps that serve the interests of the Hungarian people and the Hungarian economy even in this situation. As he said, they look to the future with cautious optimism, but the prospects are greatly influenced by the war.

- I am sure that, as before, the Hungarian government can count on Hungarian businesses, together we can multiply our strength - said the head of the ministry. At the award ceremony, Mihály Varga touched on the following: after the epidemic, everyone wanted to throw themselves into work with renewed vigor, we prepared for this, businesses, the government and the Hungarian people alike. That is why Hungarian businesses and everyone have worked hard in the past two years. Quoting Albert Camus, he said: "There were many plagues and many wars in the world. But plague and war always catch people unprepared."

He especially greeted the awardees, whose performance not only served the interests of businesses, but also contributed to the rapid restart of the Hungarian economy. In the past two years, Hungarian companies responded flexibly and well to the crisis-laden situation, looking for new ways, continuing their investments or even starting a new one, he pointed out.

The companies were the government's partners in that they spent energy not only on survival, but also on increasing competitiveness. This is how the Hungarian economy was able to expand by 7.1 percent last year, which is the highest in the Union according to the data so far, and the growth will continue this year as well. According to the Minister of Finance, there is a good chance of an increase of around five percent.

János Eppel, the president of the VOSZ, said that a new strategy is being developed for the period between 2021-2026, they are strengthening the coordination of interests and the digitization of services, and they have started to create a more effective business development system by strengthening the county organizations. According to the president, Sándor Demján, the hereditary president of VOSZ, would recognize the work and renewal of the organization in the past period.
