Everyone throughout Europe suffers from economic sanctions, and Hungary is no exception. We condemn Russia's armed attack, we also condemn the war, but we will not let Hungarian families pay the price of the war - Prime Minister Viktor Orbán emphasized after the V4-British summit.

The summit of the V4 prime ministers and the British prime minister was followed by bilateral Hungarian-British meetings in London. The prime minister said that the topic of war swept away all other topics.

"It is clear that we are all interested in ending this war as soon as possible and through negotiations. Both they and we will make every effort in the coming weeks to restore peace," said Viktor Orbán. The prime minister added that they also discussed the effects of economic sanctions, "everyone suffers from them throughout Europe, Hungary is no exception."

Viktor Orbán emphasized that the further extension of sanctions to the energy, oil and gas sectors would be a disproportionately large burden for Hungary.

That is why he made it clear that Hungary condemns Russia's armed attack and also condemns the war, "but we will not let Hungarian families pay the price of the war."

"These sanctions should not be extended to oil and gas. Most of the crude oil and natural gas in Hungary comes from Russia, and 90 percent of Hungarian families heat their homes with gas, without gas and oil the Hungarian economy simply cannot function," the Prime Minister pointed out.
