Yesterday, on March 8, the newest attraction of the Bükki National Park Administration, the Bükki Csillagda astronomy and natural history visitor center, opened its doors to the public. - can be read on the board's website.

As they say, the Bükki National Park has been an internationally recognized star park since June 2017. On clear nights, unlike urban conditions, thousands of stars, the Milky Way and the zodiacal light can be seen with the naked eye. In this environment protected from light pollution, the Bükki Csillagda is located at the vantage point that best suits the purpose, above Répáshuta.

The complex, astronomy and natural science visitor center strives to impart scientific knowledge with the triad of science-experience-interaction and pedagogical tools. Its purpose is to impart knowledge, learn by playing and gain experience.

The 50-seat planetarium, which provides an unparalleled experience in Central Europe, helps to provide information. The wonders of the sky are displayed on the eight-meter-diameter dome. The view of more than 100 square meters is provided by four laser projectors operating at the same time in 4K quality, and with the help of active glasses, visitors can also enjoy 3D movie experiences. The overall effect is completed by a Dolby Digital sound system.

The exhibition called "Our Living Day" was located on nearly 200 square meters. It focuses on the Solar System and our central star. Those interested will get an idea of the process of the formation of stars and solar systems, as well as the properties of neighboring celestial bodies. The visit to the solar system is completed by two holographs. Experiential, active knowledge acquisition is supported by tests and games that can be solved several times.

Bükki Csillagda - Sun

In a separate section of the exhibition, you can learn almost everything about shooting stars and meteorites. Stones from distant worlds can be examined not only with the naked eye, but also with the help of a polarizing microscope. In the center of the room, you can also touch a huge iron meteorite weighing 32.3 kilograms that crashed into the ground.

At the astronomical observatory, under the world's largest series-produced dome (6.7 meters in diameter), the Sun can be safely observed during the day with the special solar telescope. At night, we can enjoy the planets and stars. The evening program is not missed even in cloudy weather, the astronomers of Bükki Csillagda await those interested with alternative programs.

The VR devices developed here provide unique experiences, with which enterprising people can fly over Bükk or take part in various missions in space or even on the Moon and Mars. The most unique mission is a two-player game where players control a lunar rover and take part in an exciting adventure during the Apollo-18 mission.
