Frans Timmermans, the vice-president of the European Commission, stated in Brussels that Europeans can help in the fight against Vladimir Putin by turning down the heating in their homes, the online edition of The Guardian wrote.

According to the Guardian, Timmermans said, “…it's difficult. It's damn hard, but it's possible. We can do it and we can do it fast”.

"We just need courage and perseverance to achieve this goal. If ever there was a time for that, it's now. How much energy we consume is determined by our decisions, how strong we are in our reaction to Russia," added the vice-president of the European Commission.

One of the top politicians of the left in Brussels, EU Commissioner Frans Timmermans , said that Europeans can help in the fight against Vladimir Putin by turning down the heating in their homes - in other words, getting cold.

The statement of the Brussels commissioner is extremely irresponsible and completely out of touch with reality, eerily reminiscent of the expressions of left-wing politicians in Hungary.

Regarding Timmermans, it is worth noting that when he was the first vice-president of the European Commission between 2014 and 2019, as well as the commissioner responsible for internal and judicial cooperation, he met several times with one of the main opponents of the Hungarian government, the American billionaire György Soros, reports Origo.hu. Timmermans is one of the main supporters of the Hungarian left. In 2019, he even came to appear in their EP election campaign.

This relationship has continued ever since, Klára Dobrev, Ferenc Gyurcsány's wife, met Timmermans in Brussels on Wednesday morning according to her own admission, and they discussed what kind of sanctions should be introduced against the Russians and how to become independent from Russian gas. Dobrev spoke about this herself on ATV's Egyenes Beszéd program. The connection is no coincidence, because Timmermans and the Hungarian left say the same thing eerily.

2022Plus: Timmermans' proposal highlights the left's ability to solve problems at all times, or rather its inability. Let's pull ourselves together, dare to be small, buy a smaller car, "don't wash it" and now let's even get a little cold. This is also familiar in Hungary from the Kádár-Gyurcsány era, or from the manifestations of Márki-Zay. Russian aggression cannot be curbed by sanctions, nor by listing Russian people, artists, and scientists - even retroactively. Fights can be ended by negotiation and sensible compromises. So that we don't get even more cold!
