Győr county bishop András Veres, president of the Hungarian Catholic Bishops' Conference (MKPK), asked the Catholic clergy and the faithful in a circular to pray for peace at every Mass and in our prayers at home.

"We Christians bear a great responsibility in the world, because it is our task to take the good news of the Gospel to all people, and at the same time to serve the peace brought by Christ in all circumstances.

In today's storm of war , it is especially important to be people of peace and strive to break the power of evil with our prayers.

Many people know XIII. Pope Leo addressed his prayer to the Archangel Saint Michael, in which he asked for peace and deliverance for God's people. I ask the Most Reverend Priests and the faithful to make this a permanent part of both our individual and communal prayer life. That is why I recommend that at the end of every Holy Mass and during communal prayer occasions, we fervently say this prayer:

Archangel Saint Michael,
protect us in the struggle;
be our protection against Satan's evil temptations!
We beseech you:
"May God command him!"
And you, leader of the heavenly armies,
Satan and the other evil spirits
who roam the world for the destruction of souls,
with the power of God, back to the place of damnation!
Amen.
