Tristan Azbej, the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for helping persecuted Christians and the implementation of the Hungary Helps Program, said at the opening: the State Secretariat and the Jordanian Catholic Charitable organization started the Jordanian "Garden of Mercy" program years ago. The purpose of this program is not only to provide a livelihood and vocational training to the Iraqi Christians who fled to Jordan, but also to provide them with work in order to regain their human dignity.

In the shop opened in the building of the Piarista Gimnázium in Budapest, you can buy handicrafts and souvenirs made within the framework of the program, said the state secretary.

He added that customers in the store not only contribute to the survival of Christian communities living in the Middle East, but also express their solidarity with persecuted Christians. The support is not only about the survival of Christians living in the Holy Land, but also about "our self-identity and survival".

The opening of the program and shop shows that the Hungarians have come to the historical vocation of becoming defenders of Christianity, as they have done many times throughout history. Because if Christians disappear from the Holy Land, the cradle of Christianity, it means the end of the entire Christian civilization, said Tristan Azbej.

Tomah Ejbara, the head of the project, said that three years ago, during the visit of a Hungarian delegation to Jordan, the idea was raised to sell handicraft products of refugees in Hungary, mainly mosaics and soap. And with the support of the Hungarian Franciscan Order and the Hungarian government, the dream came true, which also shows the cohesion and value of the Christian community, he added, thanking him for the help.
