Today is the meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries located on the eastern wing of NATO (V4, the Baltic states, Romania and Bulgaria) in Bratislava. Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, wrote about this in his Facebook post.

"Of course, the war in Ukraine is on the agenda. We stand by Ukraine, we want peace as soon as possible.

for us Hungarians is to stay out of this war. We will protect Hungary, we will protect the Hungarian people, and we will do everything we can to avoid getting involved in the war. That is why we decided not to transport weapons and not to allow weapons shipments to pass through our country. Other Central and Eastern European countries decided differently. This is not our decision, but theirs, so we respect it, but at the same time we expect them to respect our decision.

We will also talk about the security of energy supply, which is a key issue throughout Europe. We will by no means allow anyone to pay the price of the war with the Hungarian people, therefore we do not agree to sanctioning natural gas and crude oil deliveries.

Fortunately, we are not alone, several (mainly Western European) countries take a reasonable position on this issue."
