In 2020 and 2021, the dance hall meeting was canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic, and the Hungarian elections on Sunday diverted attention a little from the emblematic annual summit event of the dance hall movement, but the organizers could not complain in the end! This year, FolkAréna 2022 – XLI. was organized for the 41st time. National Dance Hall Meeting and Outdoor Fair.

The Hungarian State People's Ensemble organized a charity concert at the House of Traditions at six o'clock in the evening on April 1st with its program "Megidezett Subcarpathia" to help those who were forced to flee their homes due to the war situation in the neighborhood. Ticket revenue was donated to help refugees.

After the opening concert of Herczku's Ágnes Hozomány – Magyarvista at the Fonó Budai Music Hall, the dance house introduced the two-day series of events of the dance house movement that began its conquering journey fifty years ago in the Papp László Sportarena, in the framework of which, for example, a children's and toddler dance house, a Dance House 50 exhibition dedicated to the memory of Béla Halmos, We saw a Zsigmond Karsai memorial show. Tata Ferenc Novák gave a lecture on men's dances.

In the afternoon, Zsolt Kupec and his wife, Zsófia Kupec, taught Greek dances. This year, Mihály Kupec and Andrea Kupec, the leaders of the Ilosvai Dance Group from Nagyida, received the Táncház Medal in recognition of their work for the dance hall movement.

László Diószegi, the president of the Martin György Folk Dance Association, remembered the association's namesake born 90 years ago, nicknamed Tinka, who started the dance hall movement on its conquering path half a century ago through the introduction of Szék dances to Budapest. Of course, there were others alongside them who are no longer with us, such as Béla Halmos or Csaba Ökrös - noted István Berán, head of the Dance Association.

At the next day's gala, the choreographer Zoltán Zsuráfszky, the artistic director of the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble, gave a conference in memory of Tinka, the pioneers of the dance hall movement, among them, for example, Márta Sebestyén, and we witnessed an excellent gala show, the choreographer of which was Zoltán Zsuráfszky.

The premises of the Papp László Sportárena were nicely populated by guests of different ages and interests during the two days!
