One of the largest social portals has fallen into Elon Musk's hands, and the liberal elite is anxiously watching the developments.

The world's richest man, Elon Musk, became the owner of the Twitter giant. There are only speculations about the goals of the American businessman, but what is certain is that the 44 billion dollar deal has not only economic but also political and ideological implications, reports Magyar Hírlap .

A panic broke out in the columns of the American left-wing press after the board of directors of the social giant Twitter accepted businessman Elon Musk's $44 billion purchase offer on Monday.

Despite the fact that the social platform declares itself to be strictly politically neutral, Twitter has not even given the appearance of ideological neutrality for a long time, and although it is wrapped in "tolerance packaging", it actively withholds or deletes conservative content.

To name just a few examples, Twitter suspended the account of the anti-immigration Spanish party Vox, but the same fate also happened to Republican representative Jim Banks, who accidentally called a so-called transgender military officer who claimed to be a woman a man.

Twitter also suspended the account of Remix News, an English-language conservative news portal reporting on our region, because it published the Hungarian government's statement against illegal immigration. However, its most egregious interference with the democratic processes of the United States occurred when the account of then-President Donald Trump was suspended in 2020 on the grounds that Trump's tweets "violated the glorification of violence policy." He wrote this in the margin of the post in which Trump announced that he did not wish to attend the inauguration of Joe Biden. Twitter's oversight committee interpreted this as inciting the January 6, 2020 Capitol siege.

Trump doesn't open an account

Even though Donald Trump has already indicated that he does not wish to reopen an account on Twitter even after the change of ownership, many people expect that the blocked right-wing content will soon be reopened. On the other hand, those right-wing analysts who expect a savior in Elon Musk may harbor the same false illusions as the left-wing ones who think they discover an ideological enemy in Musk.

The American businessman, who also owns the Tesla car factory and the space exploration company SpaceX, has already expressed his dissatisfaction several times with the "woke" or sensitized or progressive spirit of American media products, such as the entertainment industry portal Netflix. At the same time, Musk has not indulged in any political or ideological pretense in the past.

Since Twitter's sixteen years of existence, most of the time financially it has performed relatively poorly, which is why speculations have started as to what intentions the world's richest man might have with this fair. Although his personal wealth is around 270 billion dollars, he still has to pay the purchase price of 44 billion dollars with loans. An investment of this size certainly requires well-thought-out, concrete plans, and whatever they are, it is now certain that Musk has got one of the world's most effective communication tools in his hands.
