Regarding the rule of law procedure, the minister explained: this is a political dispute, and the accusations have nothing to do with reality.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó shared on his official Facebook page the video in which he answers the questions of CNN journalist Richard Quest. The topic was primarily the war in Ukraine, as well as the Russian gas supply and Hungary's position in this regard.

The head of the ministry made it clear at the beginning of the interview that a country's gas and oil supply is not a philosophical, communication, ideological or political issue, but a physical issue. He told me that

85% of our gas supply and 65% of our oil supply comes from Russia, which is determined by the infrastructure.

"It's not like this for fun, it's the physical situation in Central Europe," he said.

Currently, there is no alternative to Russian gas and oil

According to Szijjártó, there are no alternative sources of gas, nor alternative transport routes, which would give us the opportunity to get rid of Russian oil and gas in the next few years. Szijjártó said about the war situation:

the most important duty of the government now is to guarantee the safety of Hungary and the Hungarian people.

The subject of the rule of law procedure initiated by the EU followed, to which Szijjártó responded as follows. According to him, it is a political dispute, and the accusations are false and have nothing to do with reality. As he said, they won the election again, but the "liberal mainstream in Brussels" cannot digest this.
