At their video conference on Sunday, the leaders of the G7 group of countries committed themselves to banning or gradually stopping Russian oil imports, Magyar Hírlap reported on this based on MTI news.
In their joint statement, the participants stated that they will work together to ensure a stable and sustainable global energy supply at an affordable price for consumers. The members of the G7 group, which includes the most advanced industrial countries, also agreed to impose additional sanctions on Russian banks, which play an important role in the Russian financial system.
The video conference, which was attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, also commemorated the anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II and declared that Russia's current war in Ukraine "brings shame to Russia and the historical sacrifices of the Russian people. "
The United States has announced new punitive measures against executives of Russia's Gazprom and other Russian companies over Moscow's war on Ukraine. Among other things, accounting, consulting and marketing companies are involved. Washington has also imposed sanctions on three Russian television channels: Perviy Kanal, Rossiya 1 and NTV.
The US government has announced that they will further limit exports to Russia, depriving Moscow of important technologies. "Putin's war is likely to nullify the economic achievements of the last fifteen years in Russia," the White House said, adding that two Russian armored car manufacturing plants have already stopped their activities due to a lack of imported parts, and almost a thousand companies have withdrawn from the Russian market.
"(Vladimir) Putin (Russian President) has not succeeded in achieving his original military goal, the subjugation of Ukraine, but he has succeeded in making Russia a global pariah," the White House said.
2022plus: The recklessness of American foreign policy is charming. The Russians - quite rightly - blame the attack on Ukraine, while they have been fighting a series of wars around the world for decades. Wars that were at least as reprehensible as the current one. This did not bother them at all, and even among the countries of the world, only those who were attacked. What can we say after that? The US leadership would do well to listen deeply.
Of course, expecting something like that from this arrogant country is a vain dream.
