On June 9, 2022, the police officers on duty arrested a total of 672 border violators and prevented 140 people from entering the territory of our country illegally, Police.hu reports. Migrants arrive with weapons and aggressive behavior.

During the inspection, the detained illegal migrants claimed to be Afghan, Egyptian, Indian, Russian, Pakistani, Palestinian, Syrian, Turkish and Tunisian citizens, however, they could not credibly prove their identity or the legality of their stay in Hungary. The police escorted them back to the temporary border security checkpoint in accordance with the current Hungarian legislation.

In the last 24 hours, the police prevented a total of 140 people from illegally entering the territory of our country in 13 cases. 55 persons in 6 cases in Bács-Kiskun county, while 85 persons in 7 cases in Csongrád-Csanád county.

In Hungary, in the last 24 hours, criminal proceedings were initiated against 7 people for human smuggling and 3 people for illegal border crossing.

Criminal proceedings are being initiated against a 62-year-old Hungarian driver who helped 37 people illegally cross the country's border, according to the police.hu article.

On the basis of a signal from the Székesfehérvár Department of the International Crimes Department of the Emergency Police National Investigation Bureau, the Pest County police checked a German-owned van on the 35th kilometer section of the M5 highway on June 10, 2022 at 5:05 a.m. The vehicle was driven by a 62-year-old man, and 37 foreigners were in it.

The migrants who claimed to be Pakistani and Indian citizens could not credibly prove the legality of their stay in Hungary, the Pest County police arrested them together with the driver and are being produced.

The illegal migrants - after their hearing - are escorted back to the temporary security border lock based on the current Hungarian legislation, the Pest County Police Headquarters' Investigation Department will initiate criminal proceedings against the driver on suspicion of the crime of human smuggling.

The crime of human trafficking is punishable by imprisonment of one to five years in the basic case, and up to five to fifteen years in the classified case, the article states.
