Despite all the rumours, we will receive the EU funds due to us at the end of the negotiation process - stated Minister of Justice Judit Varga in an with Index published on Monday morning.

This is for the Hungarian people both legally and politically, he added.

Regarding the rule of law mechanism launched against Hungary, the Minister of Justice underlined: the European left is attacking Hungary because we do not allow migrants, gender propaganda, and enforce national interests as hard as stone.

Looking at the specifics, it is rather interesting that a procedure was initiated against us, the essence of which is that the "moneys that were badly spent in violation of the rule of law" must be paid back, while we have not even received the funds that we should have spent badly. They wouldn't even be able to say what specific resources they want to take away from us. Instead, there are general, political, ideological questions and problems. A long process began. And we, as good Europeans, will answer all questions, he noted.

Judith Varga was also asked what effect the appointment of Tibor Navracsics as minister without portfolio responsible for the use of EU funds has on her responsibilities so far.

I respect journalistic creativity, but it made me smile when I read speculations that Tibor Navracsics and I would surely start a civil war. I am especially happy about the appointment of the minister

- replied the Minister of Justice.

I speak in Brussels, which means that they can better understand the Hungarian point of view. In this work, Tibor will also be another voice and a valuable actor. We worked together a lot in Brussels, and we have a very good personal and professional relationship. The minister has extremely significant experience in the operation of the commission, he also has a personal network of contacts, which he will be able to use in asserting Hungarian interests, he added.

Judit Varga also emphasized:

in a professional sense, there were no changes that would affect his portfolio. Until now, the responsibility for obtaining and spending EU funds belonged to the Prime Minister's Office. This has now risen to ministerial level under the umbrella of regional development. The coordination of EU policies and the rule of law debates remained in his portfolio.
