According to the government's promise, in order to preserve the value of pensions, a mid-year pension adjustment following inflation will take place this month. The increased salary is transferred from July, but the correction is retroactive, i.e. valid from January. The difference also comes with the monthly pension.

In July, the pensioners will already receive their monthly benefit in the amount increased by 3.9 percent , and at the same time they will also receive the difference of 3.9 percent between their January-June, i.e. 6-month pension, and their 13-month pension , i.e. the recipients will receive a total of eight months they will receive the increase after retirement - concluded the state secretary.

Those who requested the transfer to a bank account will have the amount transferred to their bank account on July 12, and those who receive it by post will receive it on the usual calendar day.

The government considers it a priority task to ensure the sustainability of care for the elderly. Just as we also keep in mind that pensioners should also benefit from the favorable economic results, and in more difficult situations they should receive special protection - emphasized András Tállai, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance.

He reminded that at the beginning of each year, pensions increase by the planned rate of inflation. This year, the increase was 5 percent, but - given the international energy crisis and the protracted war crisis - a higher increase is needed, and the affected parties should receive this much sooner than the pension law requires, stated András Tállai.

According to the pension law, if the expected annual inflation is higher than the previously planned, i.e. the January increase, the state must pay the affected persons the additional increase retroactive to January in November. But the government, like last year, is moving earlier this year, so the beneficiaries will receive a mid-year supplementary pension increase already in July, he added.

The government not only ensures the stability of the value of pensions, but also provides them with special protection in difficult situations. That is why the government decided in the spring of 2020, after the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, to return the 13th monthly pension taken away by the left in 2009, emphasized András Tállai.

He noted that according to the original plans, the benefit would have been gradually restored over four years, but already this year, the beneficiaries received the full amount as a 13th monthly pension and benefit, which will arrive every year from 2022, including next year, in February yes.
