This year's Mandala summer theater festival starts on Saturday at 8 pm with the performance of Szigligeti Theater in Nagyvárad (Ferenc Molnár: Game in the Castle), which is jointly organized by the Bihar County RMDSZ, the Partium Foundation, the Hungarian Student Union (NMD) in Nagyvárad and the Mandala Song Theater in Nyíregyháza. then.
Mandala Dalszínház, currently led by Gábor Bódis, has been organizing summer theater festivals in Nyíregyháza and several other locations in Hungary for more than 30 years. The company founder László Dobos, who has since passed away, contacted Nagyvárad and the RMDSZ at that time. Friendships developed, so everyone took it for granted that they would also come to Várad in the summer. Hopefully, with the end of the epidemic, the audience will get used to it, and there will be not only old viewers, but also new ones.
The programming policies of the past decade have been combined, which is why local and Hungarian theater companies also perform in the castle amphitheater. On the occasion of the upcoming bicentenary of Sándor Petőfi's birthday, for example, the comic epic A helység kalápácsa, with famous artists, will be shown. Humorous, lighter plays are also included in the offer, not only the aforementioned, but also the two-part musical comedy Ami késik, nem múlik, which is presented by the Gergely Theater led by Róbert Gergely. As usual, the company of Mandala Dalszínház is preparing its own production, and for the first time this year, a well-known comedian, Sándor Fábry, was also invited, so it is expected that the festival will end in a great atmosphere on August 25.
