With his irresponsible, false and discredited statements, Péter Róna is repeatedly trying to incite a financial attack. With his "proposals" in his interview the other day, he would endanger the livelihood of the Hungarian people, and without even knowing basic economic data, he formulates unprofessional economic policy directions - read a statement on the MNB's website.

As they write, Péter Róna is not the first to make irresponsible statements against Hungary and the Hungarian people, as well as the Magyar Nemzeti Bank.

Already in 2014, he made false claims, such as when he falsely claimed for many months that the MNB had bought a violin, while the central bank denied this on numerous occasions; however, he never retracted or apologized for his false and untruthful claims.

His latest statement regarding the central bank's exchange rate policy, management, and tasks contains deliberately misleading information, the clear purpose of which is to incite a financial attack on Hungary for political gain.

Just as then, the Hungarian National Bank will not allow Péter Róna's false and untruthful statements to mislead the public and endanger Hungary's economic stability. The central bank, in unity with the Hungarian government, is unwaveringly committed to protecting the Hungarian people and the Hungarian economy.

The MNB therefore firmly calls on Péter Róna to stop misleading the public, to stop his politically motivated irresponsible and false statements favoring foreign interests, and to leave Hungarian public life.
