According to Judit Varga, the agreement with Brussels is close, and they are finally working on solutions, not talking about problems.

Justice Minister Judit Varga reported on her Facebook page that the Hungarian government is getting closer to an agreement with the European Commission regarding EU funds. According to the minister, the government is hopeful because the dialogue is finally not about problems, but about solutions - and they are still supporters of honest and straightforward professional dialogue.

The politician spoke about this in an interview with The Financial Times. Judit Varga said that Hungary is becoming more and more optimistic about the fact that the pledges to divest from Russian fossil fuels and to fight corruption will allow it to reach an agreement with Brussels, thus freeing up billions of euros in EU subsidies.

As can be seen from Judit Varga's interview, one of the Hungarian government's proposals to the Commission was to spend as much of the reconstruction fund as possible on reforms that help decarbonize the country and thus reduce dependence on Russian energy.

According to the Minister of Justice, the negotiations with the EU have been going on in a more detailed and constructive manner lately, which is why the Hungarian government is more optimistic. At the same time, Judit Varga warned that the separation from Russian energy should be carried out in a sensible way, when carbon-neutral alternatives are already available, and energy transmission networks should also be developed.
