The energy ministers of the European Union have accepted the proposal to prepare a plan to reduce European gas consumption, writes Welt.

At the extraordinary meeting of the ministers in Brussels on Tuesday, the necessary majority for the move came together. However, it also turned out that several member states can get exceptions.

The aim of the idea floated last week is for member states to reduce the risks arising from Russian gas deliveries. Sven Giegold , German State Secretary for Economic Affairs, "a huge majority" came together to support the plan, and "only Hungary opposed it."

"The member states that do not import Russian gas have also pledged solidarity and agreed to reduce gas consumption. This has never happened before," wrote the German Green Party politician on Twitter.

The European Commission previously recommended that the member states reduce their gas consumption by 15 percent between August 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023 compared to the average of the same periods of the last 5 years. According to the proposal, it should also be possible to issue an EU-level alert in the event of a wide-scale gas shortage, with which mandatory savings targets would be issued to the member states.

2022plus: It is interesting how bravely the countries that rejected it even a day earlier did not dare to speak out against the draft. Once again, only one vertebrate remained in the "community", Hungary. We dared to say no again - this time to Bolshevik stupidity. A 15 percent reduction will lead to a recession in the European economy, there is no question about that.

It seems that the Brussels scoundrels and those who slavishly bow to them no longer have to care about the appearance of democracy. They cheekily want to blame the consequences of the disastrous energy policy they created on those who thought - and take care of their country's energy supply. All this by using a nefarious method to bypass the European Council - where even a dissenting vote would be enough for the ambitious draft to fail. This is the real Bolshevik pace cut from the cutting board!

They would expect us to show solidarity while harming us wherever they can. As if the robber had a right to claim his victim's property.

Hopefully, the Hungarian government will not be willing to allow these robber brigantines to deplete our gas reserves. What do we have to lose by resisting? Nothing in the world, anyway, we are and will be the continent's black sheep.
