The government examined the proposal of the National Association of Associations of the Disabled, and saw it as justified that those affected should receive a discount after the energy consumption of physical devices used by people with disabilities, the Magyar Nemzet reported.

The extent of the discount, the scope of those entitled, and the order of the application process will be determined by a separate government decree.

By maintaining the utility reduction, the government aims to protect Hungarian families and guarantee affordable energy even during the energy crisis caused by the war and Brussels sanctions. Szilárd Németh said in Hír TV's Napi actual program about mitigation and compensation that he himself is working on this with the people who bring together the affected social groups.

It is known that the government made it clear two weeks ago that the institution of overhead reduction introduced in 2013 cannot be maintained in its current form. The main reason for this is that following the Russian-Ukrainian war that broke out in February, partly due to the EU sanctions policy, a dramatic energy war escalated in a few months. Market prices fluctuate practically unpredictably.

The government has declared that it wants to protect the policy of utility reduction, but for this it must tighten the regulations.

2022plus: The decision is fair and should be supported. In addition to all this, we mention again - as we did in a previous article - that some kind of compensation would also be needed to help those families where several generations live together, but they only have one meter. Perhaps, similarly to apartment buildings, here too, the average consumption should be multiplied by the number of families living together...
