When many regions of the world are threatened by famine, the role of agriculture and the farming community is valued at home. The importance of the field is indicated by the increasingly successful Magyarok Kenyere program every year.

The Magyarok Kenyere – 15 million wheat grains program contributes to the care of tens of thousands of children every year.

This year, the whole of Europe, including Hungary, is in a special situation that has not been seen and experienced for a long time, said Zsolt Kunhegyesen Feldman on Saturday. The Secretary of State responsible for agriculture and rural development of the Ministry of Agriculture spoke about, among other things, the need to deal with the extraordinary drought in our country in addition to the crisis situation caused by the war conflict, at the celebration of the harvest organized within the framework of the "Bread of Hungarians - 15 million grains of wheat" program.

The state secretary emphasized that the Bread of Hungarians program, which has been taking place for twelve years with an increasingly broad cooperation, is a celebration of farmers' solidarity.

Helping each other and taking responsibility are especially needed today, he said. He also spoke about when many regions of the globe are threatened by famine, the role of agriculture and the farming community is valued at home, and despite the changed climatic conditions and factors that make production significantly more expensive, the domestic food supply is ensured.

Although there is less grain for export this year, and the harvested crop divided the country in two, enough ears of corn were grown to feed the families, he underlined. This is also why the solidarity of the farming community towards each other is important. The ministry is therefore asking producers living in regions only partially affected by drought to provide fiber fodder for the eastern counties affected by drought. It means survival for many livestock keepers, he said.

Zsolt Feldman also spoke about the cabinet's commitment to helping those living in agriculture. It was not by chance that the Drought Emergency Task Force was established, which, in addition to the task stated in its name, was created to deal with the consequences of energy prices in agriculture. Its importance is indicated by the fact that the first meeting of the organization was already held on Friday.

When the world turns around us, when war is raging near our borders and an energy crisis threatens, Hungarian farmers can draw strength from the results achieved so far, including the success of the Magyarok Kenyere program, emphasized the state secretary. They can be sure that the government understands and feels the current difficult situation, and has represented its interests with responsibility until now - emphasized Zsolt Feldman.

At the celebration of the wheat collection held in Kunhegyes in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county, Csaba Imre Hubai, the county president of the National Chamber of Agrarian Economy, assessed as a significant success that despite the extremely poor harvest results, the producers in the county offered one hundred and four tons of wheat this year. As he said, the settlement, which is proud of its seven-hundred-year history, was happy to host the Bread of Hungarians program, thereby contributing to helping those in need in the Carpathian Basin.
