Poland will apply the principle of reciprocity in its relations with Brussels and will enforce its rights as an EU member, Radoslaw Fogiel, spokesman for the Polish governing party, Law and Justice (PiS), stated in an interview with Wnet radio.

Speaking about the EU's intention to block European funds intended for Poland, Fogiel said: - We will not bring out the guns. But after we tried to behave like a really gentle sheep, we were open to negotiations and we were really ready to make concessions, and the other side did not react, from now on we will use symmetrical actions.

– We stick to the letter of the contracts. We will apply the principle of reciprocity in our relations with Brussels, he said.

To the question of what "observing the letter of the treaties" means in political practice, Fogiel answered as follows: - On behalf of Poland, we will strictly enforce our rights, and at the same time, we will also make sure, down to the smallest detail, that the European institutions and the European Commission do not to penetrate into areas where treaties, such as the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, do not give them powers.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in July that the EU would not grant Poland access to the economic stimulus fund until Warsaw made further concessions in the protracted rule of law dispute over the court's disciplinary chamber.

According to the spokesperson of PiS, the European Commission has no authority over the functioning of the judiciary in an EU state, and "the organization of the judiciary from A to Z is the responsibility of the member states".
