The events of the past few days also prove that the strengthening of defense capabilities is now a priority goal of all international alliances - the Minister of National Defense was quoted as saying in a statement by the Ministry of National Defense.

According to the ministry, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky spoke about this after he held talks with Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz in Jerusalem.

Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said that it is necessary to build an effective defense force that can be included in a system.

He emphasized: the Hungarian government already started this process in 2017 as part of the military reform planned for several years, so thanks to the development of procurement and the defense industry, they are not only able to protect Hungary and the Hungarian people, but they are also able to fulfill their international obligations at a high level.

He reminded that the relationship between Hungary and Israel is based on historical lessons, common values and interests.

He explained that the two countries have long had a close and excellent relationship in defense as well. In the defense industry, which was considered "the latest engine of the Hungarian economy" in the Hungarian military development program and received a new impetus, significant Israeli threads have already been woven: the elements of the radar system will arrive from 2023, in which Hungarian-made components will also be incorporated from 2025. He emphasized that

Hungary is developing a military force based on 21st century technology, which is why it is looking for possible areas of cooperation with the high-tech Israeli defense industry.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministers also discussed the war in Ukraine during the meeting. Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky stated: from the beginning, the position of the Hungarian government was that the war and the resulting European energy crisis could only be solved by a ceasefire and the immediate start of peace negotiations. He added: Israel also helps Ukraine in several ways, but it does not supply lethal weapons.
