The Tranzit Public Season Opening and Gondolatexpo will be held for the fourth time, where politicians from the governing parties and the opposition will debate, and well-known public figures will also express their opinions. The Friday afternoon program was opened by Bence Rétvári and Péter Márki-Zay, their debate was broadcast live on Tranzit's Facebook page.

The conversation began with an assessment of the elections on April 3rd, where the failed prime ministerial candidate of the left said that, in his opinion, it was an impossible mission for the opposition to replace Fidesz. However, he still considers the opposition's program good.

Bence Rétvári assessed the victory of Fidesz-KDNP as unprecedented since the regime change. The left has changed tactics, but not strategy. The tactic was not to leave separately, but to go together. But the strategy did not change, the left continued to watch Hungary from Brussels, and therefore the result was the same, added the state secretary.

The former candidate for prime minister of the left avoided the question of how he felt when he stood on stage with his family after the election failure, being let down by his allies.

The child protection referendum held on the day of the elections was also discussed, where Péter Márki-Zay stated that, in his opinion, it was an aberrant referendum, and so was the bill itself.

Reacting to this, Bence Rétvári said that even though the referendum did not pass, so many people had never voted before. Because people thought it was important. In my district, the tellers were uncomfortable with the obscenities they wrote and scribbled on the ballot paper. Are we the spiritual bottom? When left-wing politicians encouraged everyone to write ordinary things on paper. Don't respect the institution, make fun of it. And we are the intellectual low point and the provincial-minded ones - asked Bence Rétvári.

During the conversation, they also touched on utility reduction, where Bence Rétvári said that there is no doubt that the left has been saying for 10 years that utility reduction is unsustainable. The governing parties are still protecting utility prices, and the Hungarian people pay a fraction of the market prices.

Patriarch Kirill was called a warmonger by Márki-Zay. The parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of the Interior quoted Pope Francis, who said that we should be on the side of peace. Rétvári explained that it is very sad that the left is not looking for a solution, but is talking about arms shipments. Márki-Zay pointed out that the rise in energy prices is not the effect of the sanctions, because it already appeared earlier.

You attacked the home building program as favoring the rich. This is left-wing rhetoric that builds on envy. What benefits the Hungarian people is good - Bence Rétvári commented on the government's measures.

He added that crime has already decreased due to the expansion of jobs, so it is worth keeping taxes low and supporting the poorer classes, and not building on envy. Márki-Zay said that the program of the left also included that the tax of the rich would be increased, here he cited the Orbán family as an example, but noted that

Ferenc Gyurcsány can also be taxed, he also has a fortune of billions, he also got rich purely from politics.

He said this despite the fact that the former prime minister was still an ally of Márki-Zay, and they captained each other back and forth.

According to the common candidate of the left, despite the 6.5 percent economic growth, we are performing poorly, and this is precisely why, according to him, one million people emigrated from Hungary. Bence Rétvári held him accountable for this. He asked where he gets this data from, because this number is not listed in Eurostat, and the former candidate could not say the source.

Márki-Zay then attacked Rétvári by asking him to say a number, and the state secretary drew attention to the fact that a candidate for prime minister cannot throw around numbers without knowing them exactly.
