The Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB) put gold and non-ferrous metal commemorative coins into circulation in Budapest on Tuesday, called the golden forint of János Hunyadi.

The coins, designed by the industrial artist Fanni Király, will be put into circulation as the 7th element of the Medieval Hungarian Gold Forints series, launched in 2012, with a face value of HUF 50,000 in precious metal and in the non-ferrous metal version of HUF 2,000.

During the governorship of János Hunyadi, he had the right to issue money, in addition to the silver coins, two types of gold forints were minted at the Nagybánya mint - Gergely Fábián, the managing director of the MNB-EduLab Kompetenciaközpont Kft., drew attention, highlighting that the original copies of the coins can be viewed at the Hungarian Monetary Museum and Visitor Center.

Eszter Hergár, the MNB's director responsible for social relations, emphasized: the purpose of the Medieval Hungarian gold forints series is to give a complete picture of the high-quality, valuable coins of the Hungarian monetary history of the Middle Ages. All three types of coins have a diameter of 20 millimeters, 2,000 of the gold standard mint type and 500 of the quadruple weight, so-called piedfort mint, were produced, while 5,000 of the non-ferrous metal version were produced.
