According to Magyar Nemzet, NAV investigators detained him in the past few days, and the court also arrested the opposition mayor of Gyömrő, Levente Gyenes, and his associates on Thursday. As far as we know, the case is being prosecuted by a criminal organization, especially for budget fraud causing significant financial loss.

Officials have appeared at the home of Gyömrő's mayor in recent days - a local resident informed the Hungarian Nation. The newspaper found out that investigators from the National Tax and Customs Office (NAV) visited the politician. According to our information, Levente Gyenes, the opposition mayor of Gyömrő, was also detained by the West Transdanubian Crime Directorate of NAV together with his five companions. Today, the Szombathely District Court arrested Gyenes and his companions for thirty days without the force of law.

The MN contacted the Vas County Prosecutor General's Office, which is supervising the investigation, and they said that six people were actually arrested by the court on Thursday, and that an investigation was ordered in the case of a criminal organization, especially for budget fraud that caused significant financial losses.

They inquired at the Gyömrő Mayor's Office, but they were unable to provide information on the matter.

Levente Gyenes became a nationally known politician after spicy pictures of him sucking up white powder from a naked woman appeared. It is also known about the mayor that he does not disdain luxury, as Kontra previously found out that he was on vacation at the Hard Rock Hotel in Ibiza with the head of the capital's utility companies, Imré Mártha. The price of one night at the accommodation ranges from HUF 120,000 to HUF 450,000.

Years ago, Gyenes was found guilty by the Szeged Court of Appeals for the crime of persistent tax evasion and persistent falsification of private documents, for which he was sentenced to nine months, suspended for two years, upholding the first-instance verdict. Levente Gyenes was the seventh defendant in the so-called "invoice seller" trial. According to the current legislation, the representative body should have initiated an indecency procedure against its mayor, but Gyenes submitted his resignation without waiting for this, but was finally re-elected in 2019.
