OHCHR, the UN human rights watchdog, published a report on the Russian-Ukrainian war. The report documented at least "two cases of Ukrainian armed forces shooting, wounding and torturing captured soldiers of the Russian armed forces, which constitutes a war crime," reports Mandiner.

THE FIRST CASE RECOGNIZED BY THE UN COMMISSION HAPPENED AT THE END OF MARCH IN THE VILLAGE OF MALA ROHAN IN KHARKOV REGION.

"Soldiers of the Ukrainian armed forces deliberately shot three captured Russian armed soldiers in the leg at close range and beat one of them with a rifle barrel while they were being interrogated," the report states.

The other documented case occurred in the village of Dmitrovka near Kyiv "around March 29." "A soldier of the Ukrainian armed forces shot three times at close range and wounded an already wounded Russian soldier. In a video, other Russian armed forces soldiers can be seen nearby, motionless, including one with his hands tied behind his back and an apparent wound to the head, suggesting he may have been executed," the document reads.

The report acknowledges Ukrainian violations, but clearly states that "the Russian armed forces are responsible for the vast majority of identified violations." They add that while crimes committed by Ukrainians are "supported by real evidence, such as videos," alleged violations by Russian forces rely mostly on eyewitness accounts.
