Thanks to the cooperation of local businesses, the Cave Bath will reopen in Miskolctapolca from Friday, said Tamás Bihall, president of the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BOKIK).

close all baths, including which shocked the local tourism businesses, who were ready to contribute financially for at least partial opening hours.

Tamás Bihall told MTI that since the Barlangfürdő is a unique tourist attraction at the European level, the chamber initiated a renegotiation of the decision, and the consultation took place with the involvement of around 30 businesses that operate local hotels and restaurants. In 48 hours, businesses offered more than HUF 20 million in contributions to reopen the spa. The short-term goal is for the Barlangfürdő to be able to operate until December 31 with the contributions, but at the same time, they are looking for a long-term solution to keep the spa open continuously. He indicated that for this purpose, together with the city, they will create a tourism round table, where they will also deal with issues related to the Cave Bath, and they will also try to contact the government.

Miskolci Fürdő Kft. provides the minimum number of staff required for the operation of the Cave Bath, he added.

Mihály Szendrei, the president of the Miskolc és Térsége Tourist Association, said that the company that operates the town's spa - Miskolci Fürdő Kft. - decided to close the Cave Bath due to the difficult situation, but without the Miskolctapolca attraction, the local tourist businesses - mostly accommodation providers, but restaurants and other service providers – its presence becomes almost redundant. This is supported by the fact that in the few days following the closing of the spa, the number of bookings at local accommodation providers dropped to almost zero. This situation also means a loss of income for the city, he said, noting that this is why the dialogue between the city, the association and the businesses started. between.

According to a post published on the social page of the Cave Bath, the gates will reopen on October 28, at 9 am, and they are already preparing colorful Halloween programs for the weekend.
