In the current difficult and uncertain global situation, participation in the work of the Organization of Turkic States (TÁSZ) is a huge competitive advantage for Hungary, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stated in Uzbekistan's Szamarkand on Friday.

Speaking about the TÁSZ summit, the head of the ministry stated: the most important question in Europe today is whether the countries of the continent can ensure their energy supply in the present and in the future.

"If we look at the facts and do not think about the issue in terms of political-ideological commitments, then it is clear that the current and future security of our energy supply is not possible without the Turkish states"

he announced.

He pointed out that the natural gas pipeline reaching Hungary via Turkey, Bulgaria and Serbia is the only transport route in Europe today on which transit from Russia flows at full capacity without restrictions or technical difficulties.

"The operation of Török Áramlat is a fundamental guarantee of the security of Hungarian energy supply," he underlined.

Péter Szijjártó said that the only realistic source of diversification of the European natural gas supply is in Azerbaijan, and the increased production there could mean new significant safe sources.

"Furthermore, in order to fulfill our environmental protection goals, it is necessary to be able to deliver large amounts of green electricity to Hungary, and this will also be possible from Azerbaijan"

he pointed out.

"Based on the agreement between the European Union and Azerbaijan, green electricity will be able to arrive in Europe via Georgia, Romania and Hungary, which can also reduce the amount of natural gas used and will help us achieve our environmental protection goals," he added.

The minister announced that

at the meeting, the decision was made to establish the TÁSZ investment fund, in the work of which our country will also participate.

He called this good news and believed that by attracting as many investments as possible to Hungary, it is possible to successfully defend against the European recession, and since 2018, more investments have been coming from the East than from the West.

"We absolutely must maintain the pace of the arrival of investments from the East in order for Hungary to be a local exception to the European recession, the Turkish investment fund will help us in this as well"

- He told.

He also reported that the volume of trade with the Turkish states has increased 2.5 times over the past 12 years, which has now exceeded 4.5 billion dollars.

Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan are members of TÁSZ, and Hungary and Turkmenistan joined as observers.
