On Friday, i.e. today, the two big Christmas fairs in Pest's downtown, the Vörösmarty Classic Xmas on Vörösmarty Square and the Advent Basilica on Szent István Square, will open. Visitors to the Advent Basilica, voted the best Christmas market in Europe for the second time last year, are welcomed by a 12-meter Christmas tree, light painting, a selfie point, an ice rink, as well as quality craft and gastronomic exhibitors on the square in front of the Saint Stephen's Basilica. About 120 domestic exhibitors will be accommodated in the event area.

In addition to the well-loved holiday-fair food prepared exclusively from impeccable ingredients, the gastronomic vendors also offer a number of delicacies that are only available here in accordance with the spirit of the event. The craft exhibitors: folk artists, industrial artists and innovative creators offering modern designer products also contribute to the atmosphere of the fair with their unique masterpieces.

Advent visitors can also enjoy previous popular programs and many new ones. Every half hour every evening, you can enjoy the light painting projected on the facade of the basilica, and during the breaks of the 3D projections, the event's selfie point will be available. A 12-meter-high Christmas tree will be located in the central part of the fair, and the free skating rink with the possibility of renting skates and skating lessons awaits the children here.

In the visual workshop of the Advent Basilica, master blacksmiths present the tricks of their trade, and the photo exhibition entitled Advent Anno, realized together with Fortepan, which will decorate the outside of the exhibition pavilions, also evokes the past. The Bethlehem manger takes its place in front of the basilica, and the monumental Advent wreath, the candles of which will be lit every Sunday, also decorates the space here.

The Advent Basilica will once again provide a place for the Hungarian Ecumenical Relief Society, which is waiting for donations during the entire fair.

The Vörösmarty tér Christmas market will also be held, which will be dressed in new decorations and called Vörösmarty Classic Xmas.

A grandiose Christmas tree greets the festive crowd coming from Váci utca to Vörösmarty Square, which is resplendent in green and red colors. One of the highlights of the fair will be the giant Christmas tree decoration at the Harisnyaház, and now the new covering of the Vörösmarty statue will be presented, which makes the poet's monument "visible" when it is placed over the previous gray nylon protective covering. On the cover, in addition to the life-size image of the original statue, excerpts of poems will be read in Hungarian, German and English. The free mini-railway promises to be a popular attraction of the square, and its passengers can also enjoy the festive decoration of the Lion's Fountain. The gastronomic points and handcrafted wooden houses set up on the square welcome visitors with a renewed image. In addition to the exhibitors presenting the colorful, typically Hungarian craft object culture that will appear at the event, the craft house will be set up as an interactive, educational venue, where visitors can take part in a session showing a different craft trick every day.

The organizers and supporters of the Vörösmarty Classic Xmas provide space for the Vigyél Haza Foundation, which works for orphaned and injured dogs, and which welcomes donors with a number of activities during the event.

The Advent Basilica is open until January 1st, and the Vörösmarty Classic Xmas until December 31st.
